Letting Go of Perfect - The Course

An eight-week live online programme for gay and bi men ready to step out of control-driven living and build a steadier relationship with their body and themselves.

Next cohort begins Sunday 26 April 2026 6:00pm–7:30pm (UK time)

What This Programme Is

Letting Go of Perfect is an eight-week live online programme built around the framework behind my book, adapted into a structured group format.

It examines body image and control not as surface issues, but as patterns shaped by minority stress, identity, performance culture and nervous system adaptation.

Across eight weeks, we work through the psychological, behavioural and physiological drivers of self-surveillance, urgency and optimisation.

This is not a fitness plan and it is not therapy. It is a contained process for those who want a more grounded and less reactive relationship with their body and internal world.

Who It’s For

This programme is suitable if:

  • You feel caught in cycles of bulking, cutting, restarting or comparing

  • You understand your patterns intellectually but find yourself pulled back into them.

  • You want something structured and psychologically grounded, rooted in the lived experience of being a gay or bi man.

  • You’re interested in mindset, identity and nutrition, and want to explore them in a way that feels integrated rather than prescriptive.

  • You’re tired of trying to “fix” yourself through more discipline

  • You want to feel calmer inside your own skin

  • You’re willing to engage honestly in a small, contained group setting.

What Changes By Week 8

By the end of eight weeks, you will relate to yourself differently.

You’ll understand the deeper drivers behind your urgency, control and self-criticism.

You’ll have practical regulation tools to steady spirals before they escalate.

You’ll think more clearly about food, training & comparison.

You’ll notice negative thought patterns earlier and recover from them more quickly.

You’ll leave with a framework you can apply in real life contexts long after the programme ends.

Self-trust will feel more accessible.

The 8-Week Structure

This programme brings together years of lived experience, academic training and professional practice into one contained structure.

Beyond The Surface

We ground the group and look carefully at what body dysmorphia actually is, how it shows up in gay culture, the psychological toll it takes, and why recovery means more than simply trying to feel better about your reflection.

01

Nutrition & Regulation

We look at the physiological foundations that influence mood, control and obsession, building steadiness through nourishment rather than restriction or performance.

02

Trauma & Adaptation

We explore body image as the shadow of unresolved trauma, examining how rejection, shame and minority stress manifest in the body and nervous system, why we bury pain rather than feel it, and how calming the nervous system becomes part of rebuilding rather than just coping.

03

Mindset Patterns

We identify the internal rules, perfectionism and self-surveillance that drive your behaviour, learning how to question them without replacing them with a new set of rigid standards.

04

Authenticity and Identity

We explore the gap between who you are and who you learned to be in order to survive, questioning performance, approval-seeking and image management, and beginning the process of living more honestly.

05

Mindful Movement & Supportive Environments

06

We re-examine your relationship with movement and gym culture, while also looking at how your wider environment either reinforces comparison or supports healing.

Silence and Self-Relationship

We explore stillness not as escape but as reconnection, examining meditation, solitude and the role of sobriety in clearing noise, and how learning to sit with yourself changes the way you relate to control, distraction and identity.

07

Integration and Moving Forward

We consolidate the work into a grounded framework so that when old patterns resurface, you meet them with awareness, steadiness and perspective.

08

Each session ends with an optional guided regulation practice. Some weeks, this includes conscious, connected breathing.
